Steven P. Weitzman, Daniel E. Koshland Professor in Jewish Culture and ReligionSteven Weitzman specializes in the Hebrew Bible and the origins of Jewish culture, aiming to think in new ways about the earliest period of Jewish cultural formation in light of approaches adapted from Religious Studies, literary studies, anthropology, and other fields.

Weitzman now serves as director of the Herbert D. Katz Center for Advanced Judaic Studies at the University of Pennsylvania and previously directed the Jewish Studies programs at Indiana University and Stanford.
