Harriet P. FreidenreichHarriet Freidenreich is Professor Emerita of History at Temple University in Philadelphia. A native of Ottawa, Canada, she earned a PhD in Eastern European and Jewish History from Columbia University. She has taught a wide range of courses in women’s history, Jewish history, and European history. She is the author of three books, as well as articles on Yugoslav and Viennese Jewry and Central European Jewish women in the twentieth century. Her most recent research has been on Jewish Women Partisans in Yugoslavia and on Sephardi and Ashkenazi women in the Western Balkans. Now that she has retired, she teaches adult education courses at the Osher Life-Long Learning Institute in Philadelphia every semester.
